Today Jenkintown Road is closed today to finish the replacement of handicap ramps to meet current code compliance. The road closures will create some delays during the morning and afternoon commute.
On Monday, September 10, from 7:00 am until 4:00 pm, the following roads will be closed to through traffic, Cedar Street between West Avenue and Shoemaker Avenue, Hillside Avenue between Cedar Street and Leedom Street, and Leedom Street between Cherry Street and Shoemaker Avenue, to allow for the excavation and installation of the handicap ramps. During this time, residents will have access to their driveways.
During the summer, Jenkintown Borough was awarded the Community Development Block Grant (CDBG), funded by the Department of Community and Economic Development. This grant allowed the Borough to replace handicap ramps to bring them up to current code requirements.
The Borough began this project in late August, working in areas in close proximity to the school with the intent to complete these portions before the start of the new year. Now that the start of the school year is here NJS Concrete, the contractor is working to complete this project.
