Area Police Among 35 Honored by DA Steele

CONSHOHOCKEN, Pa. (May 8, 2019) — Montgomery County District Attorney Kevin R. Steele honored four civilians and 35 law enforcement officers with commendations today at the Montgomery County Public Safety Training Campus for their extraordinary efforts and exemplary work in protecting and serving the residents of Montgomery County.

Honorees from our area who received commendations and a brief description are (in the order presented at the ceremony):

Det. Lt. Steven Fink, Abington Township Police Department, for the successful multi-jurisdictional investigation into a string of burglaries and the jeweler fence and for diligently working to reunite the stolen jewelry with its rightful owners.

Sgt. Drew Kent, Abington Township Police Department, for heroic actions in a dangerous domestic violence hostage situation that ended with the safe rescue of all victims.

Officer Stewart Coyle, Sgt. Joseph O’Neill, and Det. Sgt. Richard Schaffer of the Cheltenham Township Police Department, for the investigation into two armed robberies at a 7-Eleven store and CVS.
