Abington Township announced today that the Ardsley Wildlife Sanctuary (located at Jefferson Avenue in Glenside) is currently closed for Phase 2 improvements.
According to the notice, the project includes an extension of an ADA-accessible trail, the removal of invasive plant species, and the restoration of woodland, riparian and meadow habitats. Phase 1, completed during 2017-2020, created the trail.
“Natural stormwater features, such as vegetated swales and a rain garden, will be installed to help address existing erosion issues and to filter and reduce runoff,” the township said. “Two new observation points—an ADA elevated walkway and a stone slab at the rain garden—along with interpretive signage will also be added to enhance visitor experience.”
ThinkGreen, LLC will be working from 7:00am to 5:00pm, Monday through Friday, until the project is completed. The project was financed by a $151,645 grant on behalf of the Montco 2040 Implementation Grant Program.
