Arcadia University in conjunction with Montgomery County Department of Public Safety and Montgomery County Community College, will be hosting an opioid conference to proactively address the growing epidemic that kills 115 Americans everyday.

Through the “Efficient Leadership in the Opiate Emergency: The Montgomery County Integrated Community Health Approach“, Arcadia University along with MCCC and Montgomery County Public Safety will work in coordination with community leaders to search for solutions to this major dilemma. Last year, Montgomery County alone, reported a 533% increase of opioid deaths since 2002.

This conference is a follow up to last years conference “Opioids in Your Backyard“, that was held at Arcadia University. This year’s keynote speaker will be Dr. Valerie Arkoosh, MD, MPH, chair of the Montgomery County Board of Commissioners. This event is open to the public, and allows attendees to develop leadership strategies and to learn about ongoing projects such as; safe injection sites, strategic changes to the opioid related emergency call systems and the “warm hand off project” taking place at Jefferson Abington-Lansdale Hospital. There will also be questions and answer for the public to take part in.
