Arcadia University in Glenside has a new swim coach and a student from Ireland

Arcadia University recently appointed John Fimmano as Interim Head Men’s and Women’s Swimming Coach, and the University was mentioned in a Northern Ireland-based newspaper for a study abroad student headed to Glenside.

Elle, a student at The Queen’s University Belfast, will be taking part in the prestigious Study USA Programme which enables students to study business or STEM-related subjects in American colleges. She has chosen Arcadia as her destination for the upcoming academic year.

“I applied to the programme as a I felt it was a once in a lifetime opportunity. Throughout the year, I hope to make good friends and memories, gain valuable knowledge and most importantly, have a great time,” she told the Donegal Daily.

Fimmano served as assistant coach for the Knights during the last two seasons and began his new role on August 16.

“I’d like to thank Executive Director of Athletics and Recreation Brian Granata, Associate Director of Athletics Mike Hebenstreit, and the entire Arcadia community for this amazing opportunity,” Fimmano explained. “I am fortunate to already be familiar with this amazing and accomplished group of student-athletes, and I am excited to be entrusted with this opportunity to help them reach their full potential.”

“Coach Fimmano has been a stabilizing force for Arcadia swimming over the course of the past two years,” Arcadia’s athletic director Brian Granata said. “He cares deeply for this program and works tirelessly to support his student-athletes. He has earned the opportunity to lead our swimming program.”
