Arcadia alumni to speak on “How to Use Your Voice and Experience to Effect Change” at Pioneer Series Event

Arcadia University alumni Chantel Mattiola ’15M and Camilo López Delgado ’15 will headline this year’s annual Pioneer Series event on Friday, March 3, at 5:00pm.

Hosted by the University’s Honors Program, this year’s event, which is focused on using your voice and experience to affect change, will be held in the Stein Fireplace Lounge in the Commons.

Mattiola, who in 2020 was named to the University’s 40 Under 40 alumni list, dedicated the past decade to working in the progressive nonprofit sector, developing strategy and fundraising for gender equity and LGBTQ+ equality. She is Deputy Director of Special Projects for Development at the Human Rights Campaign, the nation’s largest LGBTQ+ civil rights organization. Additionally, she is a Stein Scholar for Public Interest Law and Ethics at Fordham University Law School as an evening division student. 

Mattiola earned her B.A. in International Relations and Women, Gender, and Sexuality Studies from The Johns Hopkins University and her M.A. in International Peace and Conflict Resolution from Arcadia University. Chantel lives in New York City with her wife and two daughters.

López Delgado, who also was named to the University’s 40 Under 40 list in 2020, is a foreign policy expert who has worked as an advisor to the UN delegations of Paraguay, Afghanistan, and the European Union in New York, a research analyst at NYU’s Center on International Cooperation, and a Government Relations Consultant at the United Nations Global Compact office. His portfolio includes issues on sustainable development, corporate sustainability, human rights, press affairs, international peace and security, and counter-terrorism. 

López Delgado has also led a project on electoral information transparency in his native country of Paraguay and has contributed as a TV foreign policy/politics analyst in major networks in the country. He graduated with a B.A. in International Studies and Cultural Anthropology from Arcadia University in 2015 and an M.A. in International Relations from New York University in 2017. He is a Paraguayan/Colombian/Italian national and a fluent speaker of Spanish, English, Italian, French, and Portuguese.

The Pioneer Series is among many signature professional opportunities offered by the Honors Program to both members of the program and other students at Arcadia. It was created to highlight value-driven, successful careers.
