Angelo G. Berrios III, longtime principal, assistant principal, and social studies teacher Abington Senior High School, has been appointed Superintendent of Schools of the Pennridge School District.
After several rounds of interviews, Pennridge’s school board unanimously agreed to offer Berrios a three-year contract. According to The Reporter, the contract will pay an annual base salary of $210,000 plus a $5,000 annual performance bonus, and his start date will be determined by Pennridge and Abington administrations.
According to The Bucks County Herald, Pennridge board member Joan Cullen said she hopes the former U.S. Marine “will be a calming influence” for the district, and board President David Reiss said Berrios “brings with him a track record of success, a dedication to students and staff, and a bright vision for the future.”

During his time at Abington, Berrios co-led various district-level initiatives focused on new construction, career pathways, and scheduling, according to a news release from the Bucks County Intermediate Unit, which facilitated the search.
He will be introduced to the Pennridge community on Wednesday, September 13.
Berrios, who lives in Bedminster, has been Abington’s principal since 2013. Prior to becoming an educator, he served in the U.S. Marine Corps from 1991 to 1995.
He will replace outgoing superintendent David Bolton, who announced his retirement over the summer.
