Amy Cuker, owner and lead designer of of Elkins Park’s down2earth Interior Design, was selected as a “Best of Philly” finalist in 2014. As luck would have it, she found herself in The Philadelphia Inquirer exactly nine years later to the day, featured on the front page of the Real Estate section.
The article describes Cuker’s mudroom ceiling which features oak floor planks and functions as a “fifth wall.”
“I took that oak and put it on the mudroom ceiling as a way to achieve continuity in material with a creative twist,” said Cuker. While the ceiling may have added some cost to the overall project, it wasn’t substantial, she said.
From the article:
During the pandemic, when Cuker was stuck inside and had “wanderlust,” she gave her sunroom a Cancun beach-feel makeover, including painting the ceiling a glossy aqua blue.
“The idea behind the room was to make it like a resort, since we weren’t going anywhere for a while,” she said.
