Amidst a hazy skyline, Abington Senior High School graduates 628; Jeremy Slotter earns Valedictorian honors

Amidst a hazy Wednesday skyline, 628 graduates from Abington Senior High School’s Class of 2023 walked across the stage to receive their diplomas during the annual Commencement Ceremony held at Schwarzman Stadium.

This year’s Valedictorian was Jeremy Slotter and the Salutatorian was Darren Mo.

Both students delivered speeches with Class speakers Emma Brown and Romina Farzaneh, each of whom were selected by a vote of their peers. Principal Mr. Angelo Berrios, Superintendent Dr. Jeffrey Fecher, and Board President Mrs. Shameeka Browne also provided remarks to the graduates and their invited guests.

Of the 628 graduates, more than 77 percent will pursue higher education, 21 percent will seek employment–including those going into apprenticeships–and two percent will enter the U.S. Military.

The Class of 2023 collectively amassed an impressive $8.8 million in scholarships, including several students who are receiving Armed Forces ROTC scholarships.
