Alleged bomb threat involving Cheltenham High School deemed non-credible, superintendent says

Dr. Brian Scriven, superintendent of the Cheltenham School District, issued a notice to the community today regarding a “threatening post” involving the high school.

According to the notice, the post was made around midnight and alleged a bomb threat. The FBI “immediately flagged the post and it was determined the photo used was Cheltenham High School,” Dr. Scriven wrote. Cheltenham police notified Dr. Ben Hammond, principal, around 6:00am.

Officials determined that the post came from a Philadelphia residence, and the FBI questioned the individual responsible “who admitted to making it as a joke. After speaking with the student, the FBI deemed the threat to be non-credible and released the individual,” the notice said, noting that the high school opened as scheduled this morning.
