Abington Art Center will be presenting the work of Philly artist Aimee Gilmore from November 4 through December 19. An opening reception on November 4 has been scheduled from 6:00pm to 8:00pm. Artist talks are scheduled for November 12, November 19, and December 3 from 10:00am to 12:00pm.

The show features Aimee Gilmore reflecting on her journey through motherhood. As she preserves objects such as baby bottles, onesies, and pregnancy tests by encasing them in rubber, resin, and chrome, Gilmore attempts to draw out their sentimentality.

Her work tells stories of the “mundane moments of daily routines, baby clothes that have long been outgrown, and abandoned stuffed animals become stand-ins for the accumulation of time and labor spent over years of caretaking.”

Gilmore’s August public art installation, the “Milkscapes” series, used dried breast milk as the main medium. The installation featured eight cloth flags printed with up-close photographs of dried breast milk.
