Afghan refugees to be resettled in Jenkintown

Per Pennsylvania News Today, over the next few weeks, 30 units of Afghan refugees will be resettled in Jenkintown. One unit can represent a number ranging from one individual to multiple families.

From Pennsylvania News Today:

Afghan refugees have been released on humanitarian parole as new migrants and are unable to receive government support. They are temporarily housed in military bases until screening is complete. They are then sent to where the Afghan community is, or where they are with relatives who have already settled in the United States.

The screening includes biometrics, background checks, medical care, and vaccination by government inter-ministerial partners.

Bethany Christian Services, a global non-profit organization that supports resettlement of refugees, is the lead on the project and is partnering with the Office of Refugee Resettlement, an office of the Administration for Children & Families and part of the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services.
