Abington, Upper Dublin police officers involved in motorcycle accident during Camp Out for Hunger motorcade in Philadelphia

The Abington Township Police Department announced today that one of the department’s motor officers was involved in a motorcycle accident this morning during the WMMR Preston and Steve Camp Out for Hunger event motorcade on I-95 southbound, between Washington Avenue and Christian Street, near Penn’s Landing.

According to the announcement, the officer suffered minor injuries and “was alert and walking immediately after the accident. As a precaution, he was transported to a local hospital, where he is currently being evaluated.”

“While attempting to safely maneuver around an accident in front of him, the Abington officer was unable to avoid the collision,” the department said.

6ABC reported that the officer’s motorcycle swerved to avoid a broken-down van in the left lane of I-95 South.

“As that officer spun out, another swerved to avoid hitting him. Both officers – one from Upper Dublin, another from Abington – suffered minor injuries,” their report said.
