Abington Township to hold public hearing on zoning ordinance amendment involving partially destroyed buildings on Dec. 11

The Abington Township Board of Commissioners will hold a public hearing on Thursday, December 11 at 7:00pm at the Township Building and will consider for adoption an ordinance amending Part II, General Legislation; Chapter 162, Zoning.

The title of the ordinance to be considered is the following:

AN ORDINANCE OF ABINGTON TOWNSHIP, MONTGOMERY COUNTY, PENNSYLVANIA, PURSUANT TO ARTICLE VI OF THE PENNSYLVANIA MUNICIPALITIES PLANNING CODE AMENDING THE ABINGTON TOWNSHIP ZONING ORDINANCE OF 2017 TO AMEND SECTION 1904 TO ALLOW PARTIAL RECONSTRUCTION OF A NON-CONFORMING BUILDING OR STRUCTURE FOR A PERMITTED USE

The proposed ordinance is summarized as follows: 

Section 1 amends Chapter 162; Article XIX; Section 1904 to refine the provisions for reconstruction or replacement of a nonconforming building or structure destroyed or partially destroyed by fire, explosion, or other disaster.  Section 2 maintains severability of the Ordinance.  Section 3 contains a repealer.  Section 4 states the ordinance becomes effective 5 days after adoption.

The township noted that additional amendments to the ordinance may be made prior to or during its final enactment. The full text of the proposed ordinance may be examined or inspected by any citizen during regular business hours (7:30am to 4:30pm, Monday through Friday) in the office of the Township, 1176 Old York Road, Abington, Pennsylvania. Interested persons may also examine the full text of the proposed Ordinance at the offices of the newspaper wherein this notice is published, and at the Montgomery County Law Library, Courthouse, Norristown, Pennsylvania.
