Abington Township community targeted with driveway screws for local candidate’s lawn signs

Maria DellaMonica, a Republican candidate for commissioner of the North Hills section of Abington Township (Ward 6), says roughly 15 people have reached out to her after finding screws in their driveways since Wednesday.

“People in North Hills were kind enough to put up my signs. Little by little, we found out that construction screws had been thrown in their driveways,” DellaMonica, an Abington resident for over 40 years, told Glenside Local.

She said some of their vehicles ended up with flat tires, which makes the targeting a criminal offense. Abington officers are patrolling the area more frequently.

“I was beside myself yesterday. I can’t believe that it’s happening here in Glenside, particularly on the local level of politics. I don’t know what they’re after,” she said. “It’s a pattern of election harassment.”

NBC10 said Abington detectives are investigating reports of targeted homes, all of which have political signs on display.
