Abington Township will hold a Planning Commission meeting on Tuesday, September 26 at 7:30pm which will include the proposed life care facility and nursing home at 1209 Rydal Road.
From the Township’s agenda under New Business:
Recommendation on the Conditional Use application on Chaverim Realty Partner, LLC, for the location at 1209 Rydal Road, Abington, PA 19001.
Willow Grove-based Chaverim Realty Partners, LLC, which purchased the property in 2019 for $600,000, is requesting Conditional Use approval for Use E-10: Life Care Facility (Continuing Care) and Use E-12: Nursing Home.
From an August 22 Planning Commission agenda:
Under this Conditional Use application, the Applicant is proposing to subdivide the above referenced 7.316-acre property into two (2) parcels as follows:
- Lot 1 – will consist of 1.272 acres which contains the existing single-family detached dwelling to
remain; and,- Lot 2 – will consist of the remaining 6.281 acres of vacant land which is proposed to be developed for
two (2) new senior care facilities totaling 120 units as follows:
o Building 1 – Consist of 74 units with an 82-bed Assisted Living/Memory Care/nursing home
facility; and,
o Building 2 – Consist of 46 units with a 55-bed Independent Living Facility.
The August 22 meeting was cancelled “in response to a request from the applicant from 1209 Rydal Road due to an immediate and unavoidable matter.”
A previous proposal submitted by Chaverim called for the new construction of 18 townhomes and 16 duplex units.
