Abington Senior High School will be honoring the 1975 girls’ basketball team during halftime of the Plymouth Whitemarsh High School game on January 31. The game begins at 7:00pm.
Dr. Karen Weaver, a 1976 graduate of Abington High School and former athletic director at Penn State Abington, told Glenside Local that “since there are no records available for us to double check, our best recollection is that this team was undefeated in the regular season (20-0), won the first ever girls PIAA District One Championship against Plymouth Whitemarsh HS and then lost in the State cross over game against a team from Western Pennsylvania.”

Ms. Carlotta “Bunny” Schaffer, a former athletic director and head field hockey/girls’ basketball coach at Abington Senior High School, will be honored during the ceremony. Coach Schaffer passed away on Thursday, November 28.
