The ACTIVE Academy and STRIVE, Abington School District’s specialized transition programs, had their achievements recognized during Monday’s school board meeting. Both programs develop new vocational opportunities for students.

STRIVE, the district’s newest program, is an acronym for Students Transitioning in Recreation, Independence, and Vocational Employment. Kathy Rafter and Cara Gimbel, the programs directors, were interviewed by KYW Newsradio’s Bridging Philly podcast to describe the ways in which students benefit from the initiative.
