Abington schools welcome two new School Resource Officers for 2024-25

The Abington Township Police Department announced the addition of two new School Resource Officers (SROs), Officers Dustin Wittmer and Drew Saurman, for the 2024-2025 school year.

Officer Wittmer, who is assigned to Abington High School, is a 15-year veteran of the department and served as a temporary SRO for the second half of last school year. He also serves on the police honor guard unit and was a field training officer.

Officer Saurman, who is assigned to Abington Middle School, is an 11-year veteran of the department and also serves on the SWAT team and as a DARE instructor.

“Officer Dustin Wittmer and Officer Drew Saurman are both excited to take on their new role,” the department said in a post. “They will be teaming up with school staff to provide a safe learning environment, while building positive connections with students.”
