Abington schools honor Ms. Camille Rylak, special education teacher, who passed away last month from a rare form of cancer

Dr. Jeffrey Fecher led a moment of silence during Abington School District’s monthly board meeting on Tuesday, August 8 in memory of Ms. Camille Rylak, a high school special education teacher, who passed away on July 12. She was 42 years old.

Ms. Rylak was diagnosed with a rare form of cancer on March 18. A GoFundMe campaign was launched in her name in the spring.

According to her obituary, she is survived by her three daughters, Charlotte, Isabella, and Zoe, her mother, Carmen Ruiz Franco, one sister, Rachel Franco Amaral and her husband Jeffrey, her aunt and uncle, Carmen and Felix Ruiz, and her former husband, Justin Rylak. Services were held on Thursday, July 18.


Ms. Rylak worked at the high school for the past year and was dedicated to her students and the field of special education, according to the District’s Board Brief.
