Abington School District approaches school year with health and safety precautions in place

During a livestreamed meeting Tuesday evening, Abington School District officials presented an updated and revised Health and Safety Plan which will closely follow CDC guidelines while encouraging in-person learning. Recommendations for the 2022-23 school year will no longer include social distancing, routine testing, contract tracing, or mask mandates.

Local pharmacy Eric’s Rx will host a fall clinic with the release of a vaccine targeting multiple Covid-19 strains. Abington Middle School will host a Community Flu/Covid clinic on October 22.

District officials said that Covid-19 outbreaks will be handled according to up-to-date recommendations, definitions, and guidelines, and will be regularly published on the district’s Coronavirus Resource Center. The meeting’s agenda and health and safety presentations can be found here.
