Abington police welcome new crossing guard, Upper Dublin police bid farewell to retiring Sergeant, Upper Moreland Fire Department hosting open house on Oct. 14

The Abington Township Police Department is welcoming new crossing guard Laurel.

“Always ready with a smile and a wave, Laurel is out there helping keep our kids safe every day,” the department said in a post.

The Upper Dublin Police Department is saying farewell to Sergeant Mike Janoski who retired after 33 years of service.


From their announcement:

Sergeant Janoski joined the Upper Dublin Police Department on August 26, 1992, after serving two years with the Conshohocken Borough Police Department and dispatching for the Upper Merion Police Department. As a patrolman, he would routinely get assigned newly hired officers as part of their field training program, and he later became a certified Field Training Officer (FTO). Patrolman Janoski was appointed to Acting Corporal in November 2001 and in August 2004, he was formally promoted to Corporal. In November 2008, Corporal Janoski was promoted to Sergeant.

During the course of his career, Sergeant Janoski took advantage of numerous training and specialty assignment opportunities including becoming a certified Emergency Medical Technician
(EMT), becoming a certified Crash Reconstructionist, attending the prestigious Counter Narcotics Tactical Operations Medical Support training, serving with the Upper Dublin Police Department Bike Unit and being appointed to the Moreland Area Emergency Response Team (MAERT) where he served as an Entry Operator and a SWAT Medic for over 17 years.

Sergeant Janoski was also an integral member of Upper Dublin Police Department’s Use of Force Instructor cadre, becoming a certified Taser Instructor and a certified Less Lethal Shotgun Instructor.

In related news, the Upper Moreland Township Fire Department will host an open house on October 14 from 6:30pm – 8:00pm at 227 Davisville Road in Willow Grove.
