The Abington Township Police Department has announced the arrest of Ramon Garcia, an employee of Carbon Health Urgent Care location in Jenkintown (Abington Township) for Aggravated Indecent Assault (2nd degree felony), Indecent Assault, and (2) counts of Invasion of Privacy. The arrest follows two reports involving his actions while working at the urgent care.
According to police, on March 1st, a female reported that she had visited the urgent care for a pre-employment drug screening and Garcia informed her that she had been selected for random observation while she urinated into the cup. He watched her pull up her dress and provide the sample. He then gave her his phone number and asked her out on a date.
During the investigation into the first reported incident, a second female made a report on March 10th involving Garcia at the urgent care. In this second incident, Garcia is alleged is alleged to have identified himself as a nurse, observed her undressing, and inappropriately touched the female during a pelvic examination. The inappropriate touching involved putting on latex gloves, penetrating the victim with his fingers, and placing his head near the pelvic area. The victim said “no” and Garcia made verbal advances to her asking about her relationship status and fantasies, and gave her his phone number.
On March 11th, Garcia was arrested by Abington Detectives while he was working his shift at the urgent care. The investigation revealed that Garcia was employed by Carbon Health as a medical assistant and is not a nurse. His job description included signing in patients, taking vital signs and, if directed by a physician, to take blood samples. He is not authorized to participate in the undressing of any patients. Garcia was not trained, instructed, nor permitted to conduct examinations or observe urine sample tests such as those that were reported by these victims.
The Abington Police Department is actively investigating the possibility that there may be additional victims who have yet to come forward. Garcia has worked at the Abington Township location since July of 2023, and it is believed that he may have previously worked at other Carbon Health Urgent Care facilities, possibly in Montgomery Township and Dresher, PA.
If anyone has any additional information regarding this investigation or believes that they may have also been a victim of Ramon Garcia, they are asked to call Detective Jeff Anderson, of the Abington Police Special Victim’s Unit, at (267)536-1102 or janderson@abingtonpa.gov.
He is being held at the Abington Police Department pending his arraignment.
