The Abington Township Police Department recently celebrated the retirement of 27-year veteran dispatcher Bernie Greenberg.

According to the Department, Greenberg joined Abington’s police force on February 16, 1998.

After serving in in the Navy Air Reserve from June 1967 until July 1973, he began his career as a dispatcher with Lower Merion Township in October of 1988. In August 1993, he joined the Norristown Borough Police Department where he served as a police officer until March 1996.

Greenberg also served as a part-time officer with Souderton Police Department, retiring from the post in February 2023.

“On behalf of the entire department, I wish to extend our heartfelt appreciation for 27 years of dedicated service to the residents and the members of our department,” the Department said in a Facebook post. “May God bless Bernie, his wife Donna and his children Michael, David and Ellen and their entire family. Bernie will be greatly missed by everyone.”
