Abington police issue burglary alert, similar thefts in Rydal

The Abington Police Department has issued a burglary alert in response to an incident in the early morning hours of Thursday, December 28 at a home on Kingsley Road in Rydal.

Around 3:00am, Abington officers found an unoccupied home’s second-story window pried open after a residential security alarm went off. Police believe that jewelry was stolen.

After reviewing the case, officers discovered that an attempted burglary took place in the same neighborhood in August. The Department said that the incidents were similar enough to encourage residents to be on alert for suspicious activity.

Additional police resources are being dedicated to this neighborhood overnight for an unspecified number of days.

Anyone with information is asked to reach out to Detective Andrew Ammaturo at Aammaturo1@abingtonpa.gov or 267-536-1277.

Recommendations for residents include setting alarms, checking camera footage, leaving interior and exterior lights on, and notifying police of unusual activity.
