The Abington Township Police Department announced today an investigation into recent burglary-related incidents in Rydal.

Police said incidents occurred on January 17 and 18 and may have been committed by the same individual(s).

The details of each incident are below:

• January 17, 2026, at approximately 8:00 PM, an attempted residential burglary occurred in the 900 block of Meetinghouse Road. The suspect(s) attempted to gain entry through a basement window and the rear door, but were unsuccessful.
• January 18, 2026, at approximately 7:10 PM, a residential burglary occurred in the 700 block of Washington Lane. The suspect(s) gained entry through a basement window and exited through a rear door. Several items of value were taken from the home.

Police offered the following tips for homeowners to protect their property:

– Keep your home well-lit. Utilize timers. Park a car in your driveway
– Set your alarm, and utilize security cameras
– Burglars will normally target the master bedroom. Hide valuables in other areas of the home
– Be alert for suspicious persons and vehicles in your neighborhood
