The Abington Township Police Department is honoring multiple members of their “C” Platoon and Detective Unit for the successful pursuit of a thief who had broken into and stolen money from the Primo Hoagies in Glenside in October 2023.
Officer Pfau, Officer M. Jones, K9 Shadow, Officer Howley, Officer DeAngelo, Officer Houston, Officer Jerome, Officer Hasara and Detective Lindenmuth were highlighted for the following efforts:
Officers received a report in the early morning hours of October 23, 2023 that someone heard glass breaking in the area of 276 Keswick Avenue. Officer M. Jones arrived on scene and discovered that someone had broken out Primo Hoagies’ rear window. Shortly after, Officer Pfau arrived and witnessed a man fleeing towards Wharton Road.
The cash register was found to be ajar and it was later determined that the suspect had stolen cash.
A perimeter was established by “C” Platoon members while Officer Pfau, Officer M. Jones, and K9 Shadow began to search for the suspect. During that time, Officer Hasara observed the suspect on Parkdale Avenue and pursued him on foot. The suspect ran towards Wharton Road where he was intercepted by perimeter officers and taken into custody without incident. He was found to have burglary tools and stolen money from Primo Hoagies in his possession.
A thorough follow up investigation by Detective Lindenmuth resulted in additional charges being filed against the suspect for a previously unsolved burglary from earlier that year at the same location.
“Without the clear communication and seamless coordination between the Officers of “C” Platoon and Detective Lindenmuth, this suspect may have been successful in eluding capture,” the department said in a post. “All the involved Officers displayed great teamwork with one another and worked together to successfully take the suspect into custody quickly and safely.”
