Abington Police Department makes robbery arrest

Abington Police were called on April 28, 2022 in response to a robbery at a store in the Willow Grove Mall. When the police arrived, the store security informed them that they saw a suspect stealing merchandise, and when security confronted him, the suspect brandished a knife, threatened them, and then fled on foot.

After the suspect tried unsuccessfully to get into a vehicle being driven by a mall patron, he then jumped over a residential fence and ran into a nearby neighborhood. Officers found the suspect hiding in a shed after they were tipped off by a the homeowner of the shed, and they took him into custody.

Anthony Flego, 47, from the 3100 block of Emerald Street Philadelphia, was charged with Robbery, Aggravated Assault, Terroristic Threats, Possessing Instruments of Crime, Unauthorized Use of a Credit Card, Receiving Stolen Property, Criminal Trespass, Retail Theft and drug violations. Flego was released on bail after being arraigned by a District Court Judge.

Upon further investigation, it was revealed that just prior to this robbery, Flego used stolen credit cards to make purchases at another store in the mall.
