Abington police commend Officer Ed Rowley for January arrest of Taco Bell robber

The Abington Township Police Department recently shared this month’s Officer Commendation on behalf of Officer Ed Howley for the January arrest of Brandon Giulian (pictured above), whom Howley encountered in a Bucks County diner.

Giulian had committed a robbery at a Taco Bell earlier that day.

From Lower Bucks Times’ coverage:

During this investigation, an off-duty Abington Township police officer was at the Suburban Diner and reported watching a white male wearing a green jacket stumble into the diner and sit down at a table. The officer called police dispatch to report the incident. The suspect was positively identified as the male that brandished a knife and attempted to rob Taco Bell.

From the Department’s Facebook post:

On January 29, 2023, at 9:00pm Officer Howley noticed a large police presence in the area of the diner he was patronizing in Lower Southampton Township.

A short time later, he observed a male enter the diner. The male was disheveled, appeared to be under the influence of some type of narcotic, and was extra attentive to his surroundings. Officer Howley was then made aware by the diner manager that an armed robbery had just occurred at a business a short distance away.

Based on all these factors, Officer Howley called Bucks County police dispatch. Officer Howley identified himself and inquired about the robbery suspect. He described the male who had come into the diner and was told by the dispatcher that he fit the description of the suspect in the robbery.

Officer Howley met outside the diner with Lower Southampton Police Sergeant Michael Wojnar, who showed him a picture of the suspect. It was confirmed that this was the male inside the diner.

Officer Howley and Sgt. Wojnar entered the diner and were able to take the suspect into custody without incident.

This is a great example of Officer Howley remaining vigilant even while off duty and working seamlessly with our partners from another agency to arrest a violent offender before he could victimize anyone else.

Thank you for a job well done!
