The Abington Township Police Department announced today the arrests of Jaan Qadeer Bacon, 22, of Willow Grove, and Xavier Smith, 23, of Dresher, for their involvement in the sales of illegal drugs and firearms.
According to the report, Abington police received information in March 2024 about an Instagram account being used to sell drugs in Abington Township. An investigation determined that Bacon was responsible for these sales, as well as the sale and transfer of illegal firearms. Detectives learned that Bacon assisted Nelson David Vasquez, Jr., 28, of Philadelphia, in the unlawful sale of a handgun to another individual.
Further investigation revealed that Bacon provided Smith with a ghost gun (a firearm without a serial number, assembled from parts or kits), in return for a handgun with its serial numbers removed.
Arrest warrants were obtained for all three men, police said.
Bacon turned himself in to Abington police on August 13. Smith was already in custody for another offense, police said. He was processed and arraigned for this incident.
Vasquez Jr. has yet to be taken into custody for this case. Abington police are actively seeking any information from the public on his whereabouts.
Anyone who is able to assist with locating Vasquez or has further information for this case please contact Detective Dan Bullock at 267-536-1107 or dbullock@abingtonpa.gov. Refer to Case: 24-013302.
