Abington named #24 in Money Magazine’s “Best Places to Live” list in 2022

Money, an online magazine that guides people to financial victories through up-to-date information, weekly newsletters, instructional videos, and tools, has named Abington Township a top-25 place to live in America.

The magazine describes Abington as “a first-ring suburb that provides affordable housing, a highly-regarded school system and easy access to the culture and entertainment of Philly.” It cites the Briar Bush Nature Center and the Griscom Bird Observatory as popular destinations, and mentions the range of yoga centers, pet-friendly events, and youth programs/camps available for families.

Abington Memorial Hospital, Holy Redeemer Health System, Willow Grove Park Mall, and the Township’s 5,000+ businesses contributed to Abington’s ranking as well.

The “Best Places to Live” methodological criteria included a population of at least 20,000 which is 85% as racially diverse as the state, with a median household income at least 85% of the state median. The authors then collated the data into nine primary ranking factors: cost of living, diversity, economic opportunity, education, fun and amenities, health and safety, housing, income, and quality of life.

Abington, which ranked 24th, is bordered by Alexandria Virginia (#26), San Jose, California (#25), Hillsboro, Oregon (#23), and San Diego, California (#22). Atlanta, Georgia earned the top spot for its booming businesses and eye on equality.
