Timothy Robinson, 39, of the 1100 block of Old York Road in Abington Township, has been sentenced to 4 to 10 years in prison after admitting to playing Truth or Dare online to solicit nude photos and videos from underage males between June 2022 and May 2023, according to The Reporter.
Robinson is charged with possessing child pornography, unlawful contact with minors and photographing or depicting computer sex acts, The Reporter said. A judge noted that he meets criteria to be classified as a sexually violent predator.
“This was a defendant who not only was possessing child pornography but also actively seeking out new images and new minors to solicit to create pictures. He was lying about his age to make himself seem younger and was playing games of Truth or Dare with these boys to make it seem fun. That’s not going to be tolerated,” Assistant District Attorney Gabriella Glenning said.
The investigation began after Abington detectives received CyberTips regarding suspected child pornography videos uploaded to online accounts linked to Robinson, The Reporter said. The videos depicted juvenile males in various stages of undress, nudity or engaged in sexual acts or poses, according to the criminal complaint filed by Abington Township Detective Jeffrey Anderson.
During a search of Robinson’s cellphone in May 2023, detectives uncovered texts between Robinson and a 14-year-old boy who sent Robinson a photograph of his genitals.
“In a statement Robinson admitted to entering chatrooms, pretending he was a younger age. Robinson would speak to males, who he said were the age of 15 to 20 and would request to move to the application Snapchat to further their conversation,” Anderson said. “Robinson stated they would play a game of truth or dare, which he would use to solicit the males to exchange nude pictures and videos.”
Robinson estimated he had received more than 1,000 photos and videos of unclothed or partially unclothed minors and admitted to using multiple email accounts to exchange illegal content, The Reporter said.
