Kutztown University announced that Maura Day, a Huntingdon Valley native and 2023 graduate of Abington Senior High School, has been named the Eastern Division Defensive Player of the Year.

Day, a junior midfielder for KU’s women’s soccer team, “was one of the most efficient players on both sides of the field, helping anchor one of the best defenses in the PSAC while contributing a team-high seven assists to go along with a pair of goals on the offensive end”, the announcement said. “She was one of four Golden Bears to start all 16 games on the season, playing a large role in the team’s successful season that continues later tonight in the PSAC Championships.”

Day was also named an All-Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference East Division honoree this season. More on her collegiate career here.
