Abington alum, Villanova senior Eric Dixon removes name from NBA Draft

Eric Dixon, a 2019 graduate of Abington Senior High School and a Villanova redshirt senior forward, announced yesterday that he will remove his name from the NBA Draft and return to Villanova for his final season of eligibility in 2024-25.

Dixon declared himself eligible for the draft in April.

“Thank you to all the NBA teams that invited me out for workouts and attended my pro day,” the Willow Grove native said. “I learned a lot going through this process and received great feedback on my game. I am excited to take the advice with me as I further strengthen my skill set at Villanova University. More importantly, I’m ready to handle some unfinished business with my Villanova Basketball Family.”

In four active seasons with the ‘Cats, Dixon, 6-8, has scored 1,499 points and collected 724 rebounds across 127 games, including 106 starts. He is one of only 12 players in program history to record 1,400 or more points and 700 or more caroms. Last season, he led the Wildcats in scoring (16.6 points per game) and rebounding (5.7 rebounds per outing) while earning second team All-BIG EAST honors for the second year in a row.

“Eric handled this process with great maturity and thought,” Villanova head coach Kyle Neptune said. “We’re obviously thrilled that he will be returning to lead our team in 2024-25. Throughout his time here, Eric’s work ethic, intelligence and skill have allowed him to improve every year. In our minds, he’s one of the top basketball players in the country and a cornerstone of our program.”
