Drew Gordon, a Glenside native, 2009 Pennsylvania state champion football coach at La Salle College High School, and star quarterback at Bishop McDevitt High School in the 1960s, will be posthumously inducted into the Montgomery County Coaches Hall of Fame on November 24.
Gordon coached the Explorers for 14 years and served as the offensive coordinator at Bishop McDevitt High School for one year. His teams won six Philadelphia Catholic League titles and four straight District 12 championships during his nine seasons as head coach.
He is in athletic halls of fame at La Salle, Bishop McDevitt and Villanova, and the National Football Foundation and College Hall of Fame honored him in 2010 as an influential contributor to amateur football. He also worked for 17 seasons as an analyst for Villanova football radio broadcasts.
Coach Gordon passed away on September 4, 2023. His son, Brett, was named head coach at La Salle in 2024.

From the Montgomery County Coaches Hall of Fame’s announcement:
Across 14 seasons with La Salle, Gordon served as Offensive Coordinator from 2001–2005 before becoming Head Coach from 2006–2014. He finished his head coaching career with an outstanding 91-26 record (.778), including a 33-12 record in Catholic League play.
Under his leadership, La Salle captured six Catholic League championships and made four PIAA playoff appearances, earning one state championship, one runner-up finish, and two semifinal appearances. His teams also compiled a 10-4 playoff record.
Though Drew Gordon passed away in 2023, his impact on La Salle football and the athletes he coached remains part of his lasting legacy.
We are honored to celebrate his accomplishments and recognize his contributions to high school football in Montgomery County. Congratulations to Drew Gordon on this posthumous recognition in the Montgomery County Coaches Hall of Fame Class of 2026.
