Mr. Keith Donald Cleghorn Sr., a longtime Hatboro Public Works Department laborer, passed away on September 25, after living with Stage IV prostate cancer for seven years. He was 59.
Raised in the borough since age nine, Mr. Cleghorn began working as a courier for Hatboro Delivery Service at age 16 before beginning his career, according to his obituary.
“Keith loved Hatboro and took tremendous pride in serving the community. During his many years with Public Works, he did just about every job the borough needed, including general labor, landscaping, trash collection, road repair, snow removal, street sweeping, and much more,” his obituary said. “His work made him a familiar face to many people throughout town. Friendly and outgoing, Keith loved talking with people and was always willing to go out of his way to lend a hand. He was well liked by his coworkers and known as someone who could be counted on, rarely missing work despite his cancer diagnosis.”
The Borough of Hatboro posted the following in his honor:
He was a devoted son, husband, father, grandfather, uncle, friend, and dedicated Borough employee.
Known for his strong work ethic and unwavering commitment to the community, Keith could often be seen driving Unit 19, the Borough’s trash truck, through the streets of Hatboro on Mondays, Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Fridays.
