Mr. Rothmeyer “Roddy” Kemp Davis, an Oreland native and 1951 graduate of Cheltenham High School, passed away on Friday, August 21, at the Veterans Administration Community Living Center in Philadelphia. He was 94.

Following his time as a Panther, Mr. Davis served in the US Army as a medic and cook during the Korean War from November 1952 to October 1954. He later worked as an Ironworker for Local 401 for 41 years.

Until his death, he was the oldest living Union Ironworker in North America, his obituary said.

Mr. Davis was a football player, lifeguard, boy and girl scout leader, handyman, crossing guard, and election constable, his obituary said. He was also known in drag racing circles as the half-brother of the famous funny car drag racer, “Jungle Jim” Liberman.

A Celebration of Life will be held Friday, September 4, 2026, at the Ironworker’s Union Hall, 11600 Norcom Rd in Northeast Philadelphia from 10:30 am – 2:00 pm. Respects can be paid from 10:30 to 11:30 am. A buffet lunch will be served from Noon to 1:30 pm.
