Mr. Edward Weinrich, Sr., longtime owner of Weinrich’s Bakery in Willow Grove, has passed away

Mr. Edward Weinrich, Sr., longtime owner of Weinrich’s Bakery in Willow Grove, passed away on Wednesday, June 17.

The family shared the following in a post on Sunday:

He was our mentor, our north star, a world traveler, devoted family man and loving, supportive, positive force of constant encouragement. He was a great husband to his one and only dear Kip, who preceded him in death by 11 years. Together, they built the legacy and reputation that the bakery has maintained for nearly 62 years after they took over the reins from his parents. He remained interested in the success of the bakery and inquired about it in phone calls daily. He is and will forever be remembered for his kind presence and loyalty to all of us and as one of his grands told him on his last day he is forever our G.O.A.T.

Fly high, rest well and watch over us Opa/Gopa- we will forever think of you and feel your love around us always! Arrangements will be made after we return him home to PA from his home in Florida.

Service arrangements will be made after Mr. Weinrich returns to Pennsylvania from his home in Florida, the family said.

Mr. Weinrich and his wife Kippy took over the bakery from his parents in the late 1960s. Weinrich’s Bakery dates back to 1919, when Mr. Weinrich’s father, Herman Weinrich, immigrated from Germany and opened his first shop in New York. The family moved operations to Philadelphia in the 1930s before establishing the Willow Grove location in 1952 while Mr. Weinrich was a student at Villanova University, according to the bakery’s website.
