Sumatra Cafe of Wyncote to open new location in Hatboro

Sumatra Cafe of Wyncote is opening a second location at 24 S. Penn Street in Hatboro.

Stephen Barth, Hatboro Borough’s economic development consultant, told Glenside Local that owner Yanti Bean is hoping to launch in a couple of months. Bean is currently visiting her hometown in Indonesia and could not be reached for comment.

“She just signed the lease and has to do the fit out of the kitchen,” Barth said. “We were attractive to her because her business model is creating a cafe coffee house next to SEPTA’s Regional Rail line.”

Barth noted that the new location will feature outside seating and the same menu as the Wyncote location (pictured below).

“It’ll be very nice for the commuters. We also have new apartment complexes that are walkable to her location,” he said. “Next door, we have a developer that’s doing roughly 20 residential conversions to apartments on Byberry and Penn Street.”

One is already open with more to come, Barth said.

The cafe’s first location exists at 102 Greenwood Avenue in Cheltenham Township. The new 1,300 sf location was listed for sale last month.
