Netanyahu scales back retaliation strike in Iran after conversation with President Trump

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and President Donald Trump have spoken with each other about the Israel-Iran ceasefire declared by Trump late on Monday, ABC News reported.

Iran and Israel accused each other of violating the truce this morning. Netanyahu’s office alleged that Iran launched a barrage of missiles shortly before the ceasefire went into effect and Israel’s Air Force destroyed a radar array near Tehran in response.

Netanyahu’s office later said he held off on a tougher strike against Iran after speaking to Trump.

Trump reportedly scolded both sides for violations and urged Israel not to resume attacks on Iran, multiple sources familiar with the phone call told ABC News.

“Israel, as soon as we made the deal, they came out and dropped a boat load of bombs the likes of which I’ve never seen before. The biggest load that we’ve seen, I’m not happy with Israel,” Trump told reporters outside the White House, adding that “I’m not happy with Iran either.”

Trump also posted a warning on social media against Israel resuming its offensive: “ISRAEL. DO NOT DROP THOSE BOMBS. IF YOU DO IT IS A MAJOR VIOLATION. BRING YOUR PILOTS HOME, NOW!”

“All planes will turn around and head home, while doing a friendly ‘Plane Wave’ to Iran. Nobody will be hurt, the Ceasefire is in effect!” Trump said in another post on Truth Social.

On June 21, Trump posted the following:

Israel’s emergency services claimed that 28 people in Israel were killed during the 12-day war and Human Rights Activists said at least 974 people in Iran have been killed, according to the Associated Press.
