Three Cheltenham grads seeing professional success: Kenny Holdsman (’85), Dr. Jesse Patterson (’02), Dr. Dina Zaret (’12)

Local historian Chuck Langerman has highlighted the current professional statuses of three Cheltenham alumni:

Kenny Holdsman (above left)

Holdsman, a 1985 graduate, CEO and co-founder of Philadelphia Youth Basketball, was honored with the Governor’s Keystone Award at Governor Josh Shapiro’s inaugural State Dinner on October 21.

One of nine Pennsylvanians to receive the honor, the award marks Holdman’s impact on youth and communities across Pennsylvania. Each honoree was recognized for significant contributions to their communities.

Dr. Jesse Patterson (above middle)

Dr. Patterson, a 2002 graduate, is currently the Senior Policy and Health Equity Advisor with the United States Agency for International Development (USAID).

USAID works to end global poverty and enable resilient democratic societies to realize their full potential.

Dr. Patterson is Cheltenham High School football’s all-time leading rusher with over 3,000 yards, and was also a tenor saxophonist in the Panther Band. In 2001, All-State halfback/defensive back led the Panthers to the semifinal round of the PIAA AAAA subregional playoffs before losing in double overtime to Conestoga, 34-31, on a fluke interception in the end zone.

An honors graduate from Georgetown’s School of Nursing and Health Studies, he also holds a Master’s Degree in Health and Medical Policy from George Mason University, a Master’s Degree in Defense and National Security Strategy from the U.S. Naval War College, and a Doctorate in Nursing Practice from the Duke University School of Nursing.

Dr. Dina Zaret (above right)

Dr. Zaret, a 2012 graduate, received the American College of Gastroenterology’s Resident Clinical Research Award for her research on palliative, supportive, and end-of-life care for people with liver disease.

A resident at Mount Sinai Hospital in New York City, Dr. Zaret plans to pursue a transplant hepatology fellowship. She is a graduate of the University of Pennsylvania where she majored in Health and Societies with a pre-med emphasis.

Dr. Zaret earned her medical degree at the Thomas Jefferson University School of Medicine. At Cheltenham High, she sang in the choir and was involved in the Dance Marathon all four years of high school.
