Former Melrose Country Club files for mixed-use redevelopment, will appear before Cheltenham Zoning Hearing Board on Oct 22

7600 Tookany Creek Parkway CRCP, LLC, owner of the former Melrose Country Club in Cheltenham Township, is slated to appear at the Zoning Hearing Board meeting on Tuesday, October 22.

According to page 49 of the meeting’s agenda, the application requests an exception “for a Class 3 mixed-use development of commercial/retail, medical office building, assisted living, traumatic brain injury center, 172 single-family townhomes, 158 age-restricted units (134 townhomes and 24 flats), and Township public amenities for the premises located within the MU-3 Mixed Use Zoning District.”

In August, the property’s title-owner sent a letter to area residents notifying them that the company was intending to file a zoning application for the mixed-use redevelopment of the 116-acre property.

According to the memo, additional improvements beyond those listed above include a township-programmed community amenity open to all residents and approximately 45 acres of open space, walking trails, and plazas.

Amee S. Farrell, Esquire, who wrote the memo, told Glenside Local that the club is listed as “former” because it is “public/no longer a private club.”

In April, the company submitted plans for roughly 300 single family townhomes, including 130 55+ housing units and assisted living facilities.

JC Melrose Country Club purchased the property in 2004 then sold the property in 2021 to 7600 Tookany Creek Parkway CRCP, LLC, which is associated with BG Capital, according to property records.

Two public information sessions were held on Tuesday, September 3 and Tuesday, September 10 at the main clubhouse of the Melrose Country Club.
