Fire companies respond to smoke caused by malfunctioning basement appliance in Lower Moreland home

The Huntingdon Valley Fire Company announced that crews were dispatched at 3:21pm today for a dwelling fire on Propert Drive in Lower Moreland Township.

According to officials, the caller reported smoke in the basement. Crews found the cause to be a malfunctioning appliance.

“Squad 8 arrived on scene, confirmed moderate smoke condition in basement, and requested working fire upgrade,” the company said in a post.


Crews secured the appliance and ventilated the smoke without injury to volunteers or residents.

Units responding on this assignment included Squad 8, Squad 9, Squad 11, Quint 99, Ladder 100, Bucks Rescue 4, Tri-Hampton EMS, Station 8 Fire Police. The Rockledge Fire Company provided assistance.
