The Pennypack Ecological Restoration Trust (PERT) in Upper Moreland Township has received a $300,000 open space grant which will be used to acquire the June Fete Fairgrounds, The Reporter announced yesterday.
The 41.49-acre parcel situated along Huntingdon and Edge Hill roads is currently owned by Abington Hospital and Abington Memorial Healthcare Corporation and is valued at $4.15 million. The health care institution is willing to sell the entirety of the property to PERT, The Reporter said.
Future uses of the property include open space and passive recreation activities, according to the resolution. Organizers were also permitted to continue using the space for the annual June Fete Fair, which has been scheduled for June 7-9.
