Huntingdon Valley Fire Company lays to rest Mike Burns, firefighter and trustee

The Huntingdon Valley Fire Company laid to rest firefighter and trustee Mike Burns on Saturday, March 16. Burns was killed in a motorcycle accident on Sunday, March 3.

He served as a volunteer professional firefighter for the Huntingdon Valley station and assisted with the engineering department. He was also a firefighter with Cheltenham Fire Company before serving in Huntingdon Valley.

Burns was posthumously promoted to the rank of engineer, officials said in a Facebook post.


Responders from the Cheltenham Fire Company, Centurions Motorcycle Club, Lower Moreland Township Police Department, Abington Police Department, Upper Dublin Township Police Department, Springfield Township Police Department and Whitemarsh Township Police Department assisted with the procession.

“The outpouring of support today certainly exemplified a life well lived. Rest easy brother,” a Huntingdon Valley Fire Company post said.
