As the state of Pennsylvania moves forward with its cannabis legalities, Zen Leaf Dispensary in Abington Township is upgrading their facilities.
Zen Leaf’s current location at 1626 Old York Road will soon be permanently swapped out for a new location at 1752 Old York Road, the former site of the La-Z-Boy Furniture store.
“They’re moving to a bigger building. Day by day they’re moving their inventory. They haven’t given us a time frame as to when the location will open,” Sam, a customer care representative, told us.
From their website:
We’re moving soon! Get ready for a new and improved shopping experience and a grand opening to celebrate at 1752 Old York Rd!

According to Axios Philadelphia, Pennsylvania remains unlikely to legalize recreational marijuana in 2024.
“The political obstacles we told you about earlier this year slowing legalization in the Keystone State remain in place. Gov. Josh Shapiro supports legalization and Democrats who control the state House generally back it, with a handful of legislators putting forward proposals,” Axios said in November.
However, the Philadelphia Inquirer published an article today which states that by March, former Senate Bill 773 will allow “all medical marijuana growers to sell their legal cannabis directly to approved Pennsylvania medical marijuana patients.”
It continues:
Before this law, only five out of 25 cannabis growers in the state were allowed to sell directly to patients. All growers will be allowed to apply for and be awarded a license to open dispensaries. Independent dispensaries will also be allowed to apply for grower-processor licenses to cultivate their own medical marijuana.
According to the bill’s sponsor, State Sen. Chris Gebhard (R., Lebanon), the law aims to level the playing field for smaller, independent medical marijuana businesses in the state.
While restrictions around medical marijuana loosen, what about recreational marijuana? The Inquirer spoke with state legislators, lawyers, and policy wonks last year about when Pennsylvania might legalize adult-use cannabis, and the prospect was murky.
We will be in touch with Zen Leaf’s grand opening at 1752 Old York Road. Stay tuned.
