The Abington Township Police Department is welcoming Officers Andy Bertrand and Ryan Comfort, a 2022 graduate of Arcadia University, to the force.
They were sworn in Friday morning by the honorable Judge Kessler after graduating from the Montgomery County Police Academy on Wednesday night.
From the Department’s Facebook announcement:
Andy Bertrand was a student at Haileah Miami Lakes Senior High School and attended North Carolina State University before becoming an unrestricted free agent for the New York Giants in 2005 as a wide receiver. In 2009, Andy graduated from McNeese State University with a bachelor’s degree in Sociology. Before joining the Department, he served as a police officer in Normal, Illinois and a corrections officer. Officer Bertrand is also a strong advocate for the Police Athletic League as he grew up attending his local center.
Ryan Comfort was a student at Southern Regional High School and a graduate of Arcadia University in 2022 where he earned a bachelor’s degree in criminology and criminal Justice. He interned with our community policing division and found a passion in helping the Abington Community. In early 2022, he began working at the Abington Police Athletic League where he has already made a difference.
We are excited to welcome Andy and Ryan and look forward to seeing them serve the Abington Community.
