Edward J. McGettigan, 87, of Wapwallopen and formerly of Ardsley, PA, passed away peacefully Wednesday, April 19, 2023 at his home and surrounded by his family.  Born in Philadelphia on April 29, 1935, he was a son to the late Edward J. McGettigan and Lillian G. (Pierce) Schoffstall.

Mr. McGettigan was a graduate of Northeast High School in Philadelphia, Class of 1953.  On July 3, 1954, he wed the love of his life, the late Grace F. (Cram) McGettigan.  Together they raised their family and shared almost 45 years of marriage.  Edward had been employed by the United States Postal Service for 32 years.  He had also worked for Hatboro-Horsham Township as a school bus driver for over 40 years.  Edward was a student of history, geography and music and loved to travel and work on crossword puzzles.  He was also an avid sports fan, especially Penn State.  He was generous with his time and talents and was always willing to help a friend or neighbor with any project that they needed a hand with.  Edward’s greatest treasure was his family and time spent with them.  He will be fondly remembered as a loving and devoted husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather.

Surviving Edward are his daughters:  twins Susan L. Malen and husband, Joseph, of North Pole, AK and Sally A. Corl and husband, David, of Wapwallopen, and Dawn D. Evans and husband, Larry, of Abington; grandchildren:  Edward J. Malen and wife, Yu Chun “Jolie” Cheng, Christopher S. Malen, David T. Corl and wife, Stephanie, Jessica Corl, Larry Evans, Jr., Kristy Davis and husband, Jamie, Dan Evans and wife, Carolyn, Brittany Goldberg and husband, Jason, Nick Evans and fiancée, Kelly Long; and great-grandchildren:  Jacob, Madison, Nora, Isabel, Ryder, Vale, and three more on the way.

In addition to his parents, Edward was preceded in death by his beloved wife, the former Grace F. Cram, who passed away June 13, 1999.  He was also preceded in death by siblings:  Bernadette Reale and Georgine Botto.

At Edward’s request, his services are private.  Memorial contributions in his name can be made to the Salvation Army Berwick Corps, 320 W.
