The Glenside community has a new neighborhood group to call its own, and its inaugural meeting has been scheduled for Monday, April 17 from 6:30pm 8:00pm at Dynamic Modern Dentistry (2nd floor), 230 N. Keswick Avenue.
“We’re hoping to get as many people as possible to our first meeting, and the goal of that meeting is to collect residents’ priorities for our neighborhood. From there, that will serve as our strategic plan moving forward,” Krystn Kuckelman, a member of the founding group, said.
The Greater Glenside Civic Association has been collaborating since December and is, at present, made up of 15 neighbors who have come together as a means to increase engagement and energize the greater Glenside community.
“We want to energize Keswick Village, our recreational spaces, playgrounds, trees and parks, and we want to identify priorities for the greater Glenside neighborhood and see what we can do to get some projects going,” Krystn said. “There’s a lot of talk about development in the area, and we want to organize ourselves so that when the time is right we can be a voice for our neighbors.”
Krystn noted that the Greater Glenside Civic Association is a neighborhood group sans politics.
“An Abington commissioner helped to bring us together. We were a group of neighbors who wanted to make a difference together, and that’s how the group formed,” she said. “We want people to come and share their ideas and maybe even think about joining the group.”
