Most municipalities have made changes to deadlines and penalties when it comes to local taxes. Below are the details for Cheltenham, Abington, and Jenkintown.
Cheltenham Township
The deadline to pay County and Township Real Estate Taxes and receive the 2% discount is now June 3. This is a 60-day extension from the prior April 3 date printed on the tax bill.
All County and Township Real Estate Taxes received on or after August 4 will be subject to a 10% penalty. This is a 60-day extension from the June 4 date printed on the Real Estate Tax bill.
The deadline to file and pay the 2019-2020 Mercantile and Business Privilege Tax has been extended to July 15. This is a 90-day extension from the April 15 date currently printed on the tax return forms. Payments made after July 15 will have penalties and interest accrued for each month after July 15.
Abington Township
The Township Board of Commissioners at their, Tuesday, April 7, 2020, Special Meeting approved extending the County/Township Real Estate Tax deadlines from April 6, 2020 to June 8, 2020, and the Business Privilege Tax deadline from April 15, 2020 to July 15, 2020. Tax payments are being accepted by mail and should be addressed to Abington Township Tax Office located at 1176 Old York Road, Abington, PA 19001. Additionally, payments may be placed in the 24-Hour Mail Drop Box located next to the reception window in the lobby of the Township building (1176 Old York Road, Abington, PA 19001). If a receipt is required, please submit a stamped-self addressed envelope with your payment. Checks must be made payable to Abington Township Tax Collector.
Jenkintown
The due date for the 2020 Jenkintown Borough and Montgomery County PA Real Estate Tax bill for the discount period has been extended to May 31, 2020 and the Face Amount due date has been extended to July 31, 2020.
Additionally, the due dates of the other Jenkintown Borough taxes; Business Privilege Tax (BPT), Mercantile (MCT) and Non-Resident EIT due dates have been extended to July 15, 2020.
